Therapeutic Massage: Associate of Applied Science
Program Description: Individuals are taught the skills necessary to gain employment in the massage therapy industry. At the heart of the program is training in therapeutic massage techniques used in a clinical setting. In their last quarter of study students are required to complete a clinical externship. The National Certification Examination which is given by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) can be taken by those who have completed and graduated from the program.
Credential:Upon graduation, students will be qualified and prepared to sit for the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork's (NCBTMB) National Certification Examination. Even though the state of Michigan has not yet established certification and licensure guidelines, by completing an approved program and passing the National Certification Examination you can be assured that you will meet the established standards of most states and agencies.
Program requirements: Students will need to have a B+ or higher in all MSG classes and in SCI 100E. Students should maintain a minimum GPA of 2.7 (B-) or better in all of there MSG coursework to successfully complete the program. After enrolling in massage classes, a student may be required to obtain massage supplies for classes.
