Massage Therapy - Associate Degree or Diploma (Varies by Campus)

One of the quickest growing segment in the economy is healthcare. For those who get satisfaction from helping others, a healthcare profession can be very rewarding. The Massage Therapy program is designed to provide students with the education and skills necessary to begin entry-level careers in therapeutic massage as either Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of North Carolina or Certified Massage Therapists in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The program teaches students both the art and science of massage therapy with an emphasis on the medical and rehabilitative effects of massage. It is created to teach good business practices, which will help to prime individuals for success in their careers. The curriculum can supply the student with an opportunity to see and experience care as it is given to patients in various stages of health. This is achieved by the combination of clinical experience and hands-on work through an externship.

  • Upon graduation from the program, you may apply to the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) to sit for the National Certification Exam.
  • After passing the National Certification Exam, graduates are able to apply to the North Carolina Board of Massage & Bodywork Therapy for a license, OR apply to the Virginia Board of Nursing for certification in massage therapy in Virginia.

As a Massage Therapist (in North Carolina) or Certified Massage Therapist (in Virginia), your entry-level employment opportunities would include:
