Massage Therapy - Have the Healing Touch:

On a regular basis, most Massage Therapists take part in physical recreation. They usually engaged in some sort of sport as children.

They generally have an interest in sciences such as biology, chemistry or anatomy. The welfare of others is of great importance to them, much as it is to those in regular hospital setting. Some of them are keen to set up their own business. They like being with, and helping, other people.

A range of techniques are taught to massage therapists, including the most common techniques of Swedish massage, hydrotherapy, sports massage, deep tissue, chair massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage and spa treatments. There are some practitioners who give more importance to a specific technique.

What can our Massage Therapy Program offer the student?

Upon completion of the program, you will posses:

  • A knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology in relation to soft tissue injury and treatment
  • Supervised training in traditional Swedish massage and other treatments like hydrotherapy, sports massage, deep tissue massage, chair massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage and spa treatments
  • A knowledge of the use of proper body mechanics for injury prevention.
  • An education in nutrition, stress management and wellness
  • Training in first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • The skills needed to start and operate a Massage Therapy business
  • Supervised clinic training in a clinical setting

The skills learned through this course will enable the student to open and manage their own Massage Therapy Practice.

Procedures for the Classroom

Previous training is not a requirement for each course. This is because the course stands alone as a unit of study. The courses can be taken in any order until they are all completed.

Clinical Supervision

You get a chance to take part in a six-week supervised clinic after you complete the coursework. This is when you will have the opportunity to put into practice all the skills that you learned in the classroom portion of the course.

It takes 120 hours to complete the uncompensated supervised clinic.
